Congregation Council & Ministries

2007

Congregation Council + Other Ministries

At St. Stephen, we call our committees and other areas of service "ministries".
From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a ministry is "a person or thing through which something is accomplished," and to minister is "to give aid or service."

Other Ministries

Altar Guild

To those ladies and men who would like to serve St. Stephen Church as members of the Altar Guild!

At the present time two members are scheduled for a month twice a year.

This is a special part of our Sunday worship and we would like to have more members of our congregation assisting with these weekly responsibilities.

We invite YOU to become a participant in this important service to St. Stephen.

Contact Nancy Hoffman or Jean Victory to volunteer.

Social Ministry Committee

In any group of people who regularly meet, there are numerous needs and concerns. Our Lord has shown his great love by sending us his Son. He asks us to pass this love on and that is what Social Ministry is about.

We have many concerns:

  • rides to worship for both members and our Liberian friends
  • assistance in food shopping
  • winter clothes drive
  • Personal Pantry
  • Medical Closet
  • School Supplies
  • Learning to read and write
  • Food Pantry at First English Lutheran Church (this is well taken care of!)

This list could continue on and on. Prayerfully consider how you might be able to help just once in a while or on a regular basis.

Immediate needs:

  • monetary contributions to assist in purchasing winter clothes for children
  • working with one family and assisting them with transportation for food shopping

If you are interested or have further questions, please call Lois Koenig or leave a message with Marie at the church office.

Ushering

Ushering is an important part of our church service and we could use more of our congregation members (men, women, couples, and youth) to assist in this area.

Ushers are needed for both services, at 8:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Service is for a month two or three times a year, depending on the number of participants in this important program.

If you are interested in helping in this part of our church service, please give your name to the church secretary or contact Charles Victory.

Thank you for your consideration to this stewardship for St. Stephen.
